The Lil’ Ray of Sunshine Strikes Again! Or, the Q&A In Which Norrie Appears Taller Than She Is

Another ray of sunshine fell on Reading Under the Blankie, this time from Amy.
I had a lot of fun answering Morgana’s questions last time, so here we go again!

So, how does this work?

#1 What’s the perfect day for you?

Any day that starts with me not having to go to work has the potential to become the perfect day. As long as there’s no sudden zombie apocalypse or a natural disaster, chances are that it remains a perfect day. Friends are always welcome to join, and if we get to chill out on a beach, even better! Fluffy kitty hugs help too.

#2 What was your last 5 star read and what made it great?

After consulting Goodreads, it appears that my last 5 star read was The Sea Was a Fair Master by Calvin Demmer. I didn’t expect a collection of flash fiction to be so good, but seriously, it was horrifying and hilarious at the same time.

#3 Do you prefer series or standalones?

No preference, really. Standalones are good for my commitment issues, but if I love a series, I will enjoy taking time getting back into it. It might take me years though, but we won’t mention that little detail.

#4 Do you read multiple books at the same time, or do you read one at a time?

It’s a recent thing, but yes, occasionally I have two books going at the same time. Like when a review copy is only available in a format I can only read on my computer, I will pick something else to read in bed and when I’m out and about.

#5 Do you have any book regrets?

Nope!

#6 Who are the 3-6 guys in your harem? You can only choose characters from books, and only one character from each book.

Well, I’m not sure I’m the harem sort of girl… I can just see this situation getting out of hand pretty quickly and me ending up with six guys waiting for dinner every night, and expecting me to wash their socks and iron their underpants. I’ll pass.
On the other hand, I totally wouldn’t mind having an entourage!
I’d love to have Kvothe (The Name of the Wind) around for witty banter and musical entertainment, Dale “Barbie” Barbara (Under the Dome) so that he can make his mean burgers when we are having barbecues, Wade Watts (Ready Player One) to play video games together, and Frank Porter (Since You’ve Been Gone) for workout buddy.

Dale “Barbie” Barbara points out that the steak is nowhere near medium

#7 If you could spend the day with any fictional character, who would you choose and what would you be doing?

I wouldn’t mind investigating some mystery with Bill Hodges, the retired detective from Mr. Mercedes.

#8 If you could only read one more book for the rest of 2018, which book would you choose?

Harsh! I’d probably sniff with indignation and resort to watching series and not read at all, just to show ’em. (Whoever they are…)
But I’d probably take a sneak peak at The Consuming Fire by John Scalzi once it’s out in October.

#9 Do you ever review audio books?

I only finished one audio book, but I haven’t reviewed it. Yet. I think I probably will…? Or maybe I won’t! *shrugs*
I’m keeping you on your toes, guys. I know, the suspense is getting unbearable.

#10 What are three non book related things, you want to share about yourself?

I love my rib eye steak medium, with sweet potato fries and mushroom sauce.
Deadlifts are my favourite way to show my butt who’s boss.
A lot of people seem to be under the impression that I’m taller than I really am, and are surprised when they find out I’m 5’2″. Must be some kind of sorcery…

#11 If you could choose any books series to be made into a TV series, which one would you choose and who would play the hero and heroine?

I love Nordic Noir both in books and on telly, and would absolutely love to see the Malin Fors series on Netflix.
Synnøve Macody Lund would be awesome as the haunted detective, and Corey Stoll as her partner, Detective Zeke Martinsson.

Again… don’t feel you guys need to answer, but I’d love to hear from…

  1. Ye you little one :-). Sorry, couldn’t resist, it’s just fun to see someone who’s actually smaller than me ;-). You seem to know pretty well who you want in your ‘entourage’ too :-). Never heard of them and I sometimes have a man crush but once I pick up another novel I have a hard time remembering their name ;-). Great answers!

  2. Ahh, again- so interesting to read your answers 🙂
I love that you’re not as tall as everyone thinks, I am 5’4 myself 🙂 Tell me.. do you also have trouble buying jeans? 😀 Because dear lord, I do! 😀
I think you’re the first blogger I’ve come across who knows the Malin Fors series! How exciting.. I just read one of the books recently and I totally loved it.. it was one of the recent published books in English in the series and I went back and got the first one straight away because soooo good! and a TV show would be great 🙂
Thank you for the tag! I will do this! 🙂 Love your questions 🙂 ❤

    1. ❤ Yay! 🙂
I haven't seen Malin mentioned around on other blogs either, so i just talk about the series whenever i can and hope it will stick 😀
I hope you'll like the first book as well! It was defo very dark, but the writing is beautiful.

Jeans are the worst!! There's one shop i like that does short versions of jeans and they have one specific model (ankle grazer) that fits just fine, but recently they started making them smaller so last time i bought a pair it didn't fit around my belly and presented me with new sets of problems 😀 😀

  3. Sweet potato fries, yesss!! Especially baked ones, they somehow taste so much better cause of the lack of oily greasiness and are so much easier to make. Also that sounds like a perfect day for me, just chillin in the beach with a good book and wonderful friends ❤

  4. Ha! Ha! You may be a book reviewer by night, but I think I found out your other day job, you know, the secret one where you don’t wear a cape: stand up comedienne!

  5. Hahaha you truly are a lil’ ray of sunshine! ❤ Loved your answers, and I'd love to never have to work again, and just chill on the beach every day reading (except in winter, that's just weird), and sipping cocktails, ah… I should have been born as a rich heiress, I knew it, dang. I love your questions so much, I'll give this one a priority over the other tags I'm months overdue on haha, thanks for tagging me! 🙂

    1. Squee! I’m so excited to see your answers! ❤

I think if we were rich heiresses we could travel to places where there's hot and look less weird on the beach during winter 😀

  6. Thanks for tagging me, Norrie! I may try yours (I’m not good at completing tags!) because it’s only six questions! Deadlifts are one of my favorite exercises! Somehow they aren’t “hard” to do, or an exercise I dread, but they get great results! They need more love! Always fun and entertaining to read your answers to these! ♥️

  7. I’ve had litteral gasps when I opened the door to sale people (but lets be real here, there were all men) because of my height. I’m 4 ’11. I won’t do this on the blog but I’ll answer the questions here. 😀

#1 What is your favourite breakfast? I don’t think I have any? I mostly eat bread haha.
#2 What was your dream job when you were a child? Are you in that career now? Teacher. And no currently a stay at home mom and I ended up with a bacherlor of social work.
#3 How do you drink your coffee? Not.
#4 What’s your current favourite TV show we should all check out? Oh current favorite. Agents of Shield.
#5 What is your favourite way to relax? Read with my favorite drink haha.
#6 What gets your day off to a good start? No crying from toddler and not bumping into things.
#7 Do your friends & family follow your blog? I know some people in real life follow my blog who are also big readers and some friends and family do follow my page on fb. Which is good becaure otherwise I still wouldn’t have reached 10 likes on there haha.
#8 Would you be ok to stay in a cabin in the woods by yourself for a week? It depends. How dark does this woods get? I mean I like being by myself but I don’t nessecarily like sleeping in a house alone, you know. I like the comfort of having someone else there or knowing that someone else is coming home. Having said that, I think I would be ok.
#9 Describe yourself in five words. Introvert, awkward, mom, helpful, emotional (I think)
#10 Do you travel light, or take half the house with you? I mean I think reasonably light. Thought it has gotten more with having a kid because I have to be prepared for everything. Like puking his peanut butter sandwhich in the car and not having anything to clean it with in the car. That was fun…
#11 What are your hobbies, other than blogging? Reading. Surprise right?

    1. Aww, well thanks for taking the time to answer them ❤ 🙂

I think i'd be fine in the cabin too as long as it has good internet and a lot of books 😀

You are the second person who said they don't drink coffee 😀 I think i drink on your behalf too, possibly. Only today i had 3 already and contemplating the 4th one 😀

  8. I feel the same way about reading two books at once! I usually have one ebook and one physical copy to read at the same time, although recently, since I’ve been busier, I can only read one at a time. D: And very interesting about your steak preference! My dad always has his steak medium, but the rest of my family is scared of the bloody taste, so we go for medium well. xD

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Well, i must admit, it can go wrong sometimes. Depends on the meat – sometimes they don’t have a nice piece and it’s chewy and tastes like it was 100 years old and then medium can end up being like road kill 😦

    1. I think the minute i’d told myself “reading schedule” i’d be like “nooo, you can’t make meeee!!” 😀
For me if i read more books at the same time they have to be very different. So that i don’t get confused between them 😀
