What Happened Under the Blankie?

Well, hello there!

Long time no… Anything, really.

Where do I begin? It’s been almost two months since I moved into my new place, and I must say I’m enjoying myself way more than I thought I will. Sure, I could do without the neighbours screaming the house down on a daily basis, but could be worse. They usually shut up by the time I go to bed.

The first thing I did was arrange my books and decorate my reading nest. Of course the rest of the flat could do with some improvements, but I’m not that desperate to get them done immediately. (Ain’t nobody got time for that!)20191020_160047.jpg

Coming to terms with the fact that I’m single again was also way easier than ever before. I still have this tiny feeling that again I picked the wrong option and not only that but stuck to it for years (and woe is me…) but right now it feels like it all happened hundred years ago. I feel relieved. Funnily enough, my therapist was also relieved, and it must have taken him all his skills to not jump out of his chair and congratulate me, and only say “Well I was sitting here wondering for months what the fuck is she doing with that guy“. You and me both, dude…rs_500x283-140220093116-tumblr_static_ann_perkins

A few weeks ago Vera @Unfiltered Tales convinced me to go bouldering (indoors) with her. I had my reservations (and thoughts about all kinds of wild ways in which I’m going to die), but it turned out to be awesome. I might let me convince myself again!

Lately I’ve also been doing yoga as well. I absolutely love Yoga With Adrien; she’s super cute and totally inspiring. There’s nothing like her being all adorable while my butt trembles like reed in the wind…

I’ve been reading like there’s no tomorrow this past month, but couldn’t really bring myself to get into reviews and such. Will I ever? We shall see.

In case you are wondering what my favourites were since we met last time…

The Secret History by Donna Tartt

OMG! I loved this!? Tried to read it in 2011 but noped out pretty early on. I don’t know what my bloody problem was back then, but this book is pretty awesome. The other weekend I was in the mood to try it again though, and oh boy. I basically haven’t left the house and kept on reading all day long. Loved the atmosphere and the subtle paranoid, creepy vibes. This is just so good?!

Changeling by Matt Wesolowski

I knew this guy will not disappoint me. The previous book, Hydra, was pretty fucking creepy, but I think the author went above and beyond himself with Changeling. I didn’t get the audiobook version this time, but sod it. I gave up on horror quite a while ago, because couldn’t find any books that were terrifying enough to be worthy of being called horror. So I’m pretty glad Matt Wesolowski came along. He’s my guy now.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is certainly the type of book I don’t often pick up. But whenever I do, I always wonder just why the fuck do I resist them so much. You know, if there’s no murder investigation or mystery in the story I most often just back out. Well, I’m glad I finally got around to reading this, because it easily made its way in to my favourite ten books of this year. It even had a bit of mystery too!

A Nearly Normal Family by M.T. Edvardsoon

I’m a sucker for Scandi crime, and have yet to come across one that really and truly sucks. Loved how A Nearly Normal Family was actually set during late summer & early autumn. I imagine it must be beautiful. Not all is doom and gloom in Sweden, even with a murderer on the loose!

Dry by Neal & Jarrod Shusterman

This was just way too real to be comfortable around. Drought? California cut off from water? It can actually happen. Not only to them, to all of us! Loved the characters, and I think the father & son author duo painted a pretty realistic picture of how something like would go down.

    1. Hiii 🙂 Thank you 🙂 I’m pretty good! Lovely to see you ❤
The Secret History was such an awesome story. I was curious why it was not made into a movie yet, but based on what i found online, it's pretty doomed in that aspect.

  2. Welcome back!!! Your reading nook looks comfy AF, if there’s space for beanie bag throw one in (You might not want to leave the house again tho). I love Yoga with Adrienne too and her doggo, although i think something shifted the last time i practiced will try again tho. Good to have you back.

  3. So good to see you pop up in my feed today, Norrie💜 You were missed!

Your flat looks so bright, cheery and airy! You’ve done a great job with it. And I’ve gotta say, you sound like a woman who shed some serious boyfriend weight and came out wonderfully on the other side. Best wishes for your continued happiness.

  4. Hey, Norrie, so good to see you back online, you’ve been missed, Sweetie! And I’m so happy to hear things are going well for you, and that you managed to find some humour having moved on. And bouldering? Dang that Vera can talk anyone into doing fun things … what, scary? lol You’re a braver soul than me. I have enough trouble rolling in and out of bed these days, let along climbing big rocks! 😉

Even if you decide not to do anymore lengthy reviews, I hope you still hang with us all, and continue to share your thoughts and do a few mini reviews, here and there.

    1. She certainly can! Haha 😀 I never would have even thought of it I think.
Maybe you need some Adrien & yoga in your life too? I’m feeling more flexible than normal since i started.

      1. Oh, yeah, I’ll take Adrien and the yoga over rock climbing, not that I wouldn’t try it if you and Vera were there with me, it would be hilarious. And yoga is better for this old body of mine anyway, I need sedentary these days. 😉

  5. Hey Norrie!!!!! I love Yoga with Adrienne too! I’ve been “indoor” for whole week due to a virus and was going mad! So I did some yoga with her (but trembling too LOL). Now you should maybe marry your therapist who knows ;-))))) Anyway I am so happy to read that you are doing great!

    1. Oh no, Sophie. Hope you are feeling better soon! We have some plague going around the office too but so far I dodged it. Was sick almost all October, so that was enough! 😀

LOL, not sure what my therapist’s wife would say, but hey, we just need to be assertive, no? 😀

  6. Hi Norrie! *waves maniacally* So good to hear from you! Your new place looks bright and cosy and I’m happy to hear you’re well. I have to tell you though, and don’t take this the wrong way, but uhm, Matt Wesolowski can’t be your guy cos he’s my guy 😂

    1. ❤ Love it when they go at it while i'm doing my yoga and Adrien is going about feeling peaceful 😀 😀
But maybe because of that, they don't annoy me as much as i thought they will.

  7. Your place (especially your bookshelf 😉 ) is looking great! And I love yoga with Adrien- she’s so lovely to watch and has really got me into yoga too 🙂 Secret history and seven husbands are both brilliant! Really great to see you back on here again! ❤

  8. So lovely to hear from you, Norrie! You were very missed!! Sorry I’m terribly late on catching up. 😦 Congratulations on the break-up, it sounds like you are much, much better off without him. ❤ & oh my gosh, your new place is the freakin' cutest. It looks so cozy and neat!! & I have no idea what bouldering is– don't know if I'd be brave enough to try it? Lol so glad you enjoyed it though!

Loved reading your mini book reviews again. I also read Evelyn Hugo earlier this year! It was quite an addicting book!

    1. Bouldering is sort of wall climbing. It’s not very tall, maybe like a taller room or something but even so i didn’t always go up all the way 😳. Was a good workout tho!

Dunno what was about Evelyn Hugo i liked so much, maybe that made me think about relationships in some new ways

  9. Rock climbing is a struggle, never mind bouldering.

I tried Yoga with Adriene, again, I struggled. Please send lots of tips.

And whew. Everyone seems to be breaking up this year, it all seems like everyone’s been struggling to break off a failing relationship… I feel like our generation is getting to it quicker and gradually being open to being single. But I’m going to forward this on to my friend who’s struggling too and tell her that if you can get through it and be happy, so can she! 🙂

    And a belated welcome back!

    1. Oh, i started with the beginner Adriene stuff and mostly did the stretches, those 20-25 minute videos. Figured i couldn’t do the more difficult ones cuz i was too stiff :/

I wish all the best for your friend ❤ You clearly care about her, and with a friend like you i hope she finds her feet soon enough!
