Happy New Year! We Made It To 2019!

Howdy! Happy New Year!

Anyone hungover? I’m still recovering from the sniffles, so we had a low key New Years Eve celebration, drinking Winter Pimm’s (because one needs a hot drink when one is poorly) and binge watching Tokyo Ghoul on Netflix. But who am I kidding? That’s pretty much what I’d would have done anyway.

So, on the first day of 2019 I wish you all the best and let the new year bring us new adventures, great books, fun times and happiness!

If you fancy an oh-so-posh Winter Pimm’s too, here’s how you make it.

♥ 50 ml Pimm’s
♥ 150 ml Apple juice
♥ Orange & apple slices
♥ Cinnamon sticks

Warm up the apple juice in a sauce pan, and add the Pimm’s.
Pour it in a fancy glass (but forget your best crystals, it would probably break) and drop in a couple slices of orange and apple. If you are like me, and love cinnamon, you can also add a piece of cinnamon stick. Sit back, and enjoy. Maybe talk in a posh accent for full effect.

How did you guys celebrate? Went out? Stayed in?

  1. Yum! I’m also recovering from the sniffles so we had a similarly quiet new year – got dressed up in our fancy clothes for dinner at home, and made cocktails

  2. Happy New Year! 🙂
I hope the Pimms helped battle the sniffles!
Didn’t get up to much myself at all… went to town for 10 mins to watch the fireworks and then ended up reading until 3am! Good start to a new year for sure!

  3. Happy New Year!!!
My evening included a bottle of wine and ‘Weeds’ reruns (I don’t have internet right now so I’m limited to DVDs—what are those?!) Then I zonked at 10pm and woke up this morning at 3am and have been bright eyed since! LOL

    1. Omg, no internet? Are you ok? I’d probably go nuts, haha. Or turn into a hermit or something.

3 am, so early! Hope your sleep schedule returns to something more convenient soon 🙂

    1. Thank you ❤ 🙂
I think winter pimms is even better when you are not sick and can actually taste all the flavours 😀 I dunno what's with me and hot alcohol, but i usually love all these winter drinks.

  4. Mmm those Winter Pimm’s look sooo good, thanks for the recipe! I stayed in and was reading a book at midnight while the cat was hiding for half an hour because she heard a few little pops (firework is forbidden here and you can get a fine but there are always people who don’t care).

  5. I went to a party where everyone was 20-30 years older than me and I knew no one (which sucked), came home and read, drank grape juice, and played cards with my brother. Pretty lowkey.

    1. Ah, sounds lovely! I wouldn’t mind doing something like that i think 😀

I used to go over to my friend’s but a couple years ago she moved and it’s a pain in the ass to get there now, especially on NY.

  6. Happy New Year, Sweetie!

No one was hung over in our house. The only thing we drank was a small glass of sherry, and that was well before midnight—I was in bed my 11pm! But I might have stayed up if we had anything to binge watch … okay, who am I kidding. No chance of my ever staying up to midnight these days.

Hey, thanks for the winter warmer, we need that up here for seven months of the year. They drink something called Caribou, check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribou_(drink)

    All the best for 2019!

    1. Haha, it’s very rare for me too that i stay up that late too. So your evening sounds lovely to me!
That caribou sounds right up my alley! They had me at “usually whiskey” 😀

      1. Oh, I love my sleep time, it’s precious, so I don’t stay up too late these days. I’ve done all my partying years ago! 😉

Caribou is one of those drinks you sip, and sip and then, fall down drunk! It hits you afterwards. Deadly!!

  7. Happy New Year! 😀 I hope you’re feeling better! My new years was pretty lo-key too I stayed in, since it was raining here, had a few beers, watched some hockey, called it a night! 🙂 I hope your 2019 has started off well 🙂

  8. Happy New Year! 🥳

We went to bed at 10pm 🙈only to be woken up at midnight by loud fireworks and one very scared fluffball (our dog hates those bangs). Spent yesterday in sunshine climbing by the sea though so the early nigh was totally worth it. 😊 (In all honestly I’m not that big on this new year thing anyway…. 😉)

Glad you are on the mend though, being ill really sucks. Staying in and sipping that drink (which sounds delicious by the way) sounds really lovely.

    1. Oh, damn, that’s awesome! I haven’t left the house all day, even tho it looked pretty nice outside.

I remember when i was younger, not having plans for NYE was a proper tragedy. And now i’m like “yea, leave me alone, thank you” 😀

      1. I hear you, I was the same, I always look at people deciding to stay at home as either weird or sad… and look at me now. The arrogance of my youth is something I am constantly being amused by… 😂😂

And hey, no worries about leaving the house. Sometimes staying in and getting better is the best way! 👌😊

  9. Well Norrie this is traditionally low key in our pajamas and playing games. So that’s what we did 😉 Happy New Year!

  10. Happy new year, Norrie! I decided to do something different this year and go out for New Year’s Eve. Not a tradition that I intend to keep up though since it didn’t go so well. Was back home by 1am and woke up with a sore throat and cough that won’t go away. I hope you are feeling better x

    1. Oh jeez, that’s not nice :/ Hope you are ok now!
Gone with the Wind is such a chirstmas movie for me. When i was a kid, it was always on telly in December without fail 😀

  11. Happy Belated New Year! A night in works best for me these days, and I spent my New Year’s Eve(ning) reading. 😀

I have to ask, what is Pimm’s? Sorry, dumb (and apparently lazy because I could look it up) American here. I’ve heard of it before, but never investigated further.

    1. Haha 😀
Pimm’s is kind of a liqueur. On its own it’s really quite bad, so it’s best to mix with stuff.
The classic one has mint, cucumber, lime and lemonade, and for the summer version you can add also strawberries 🙂

  12. I had my parents over for the whole Christmas Holidays, the first time ever with them at my home abroad! On New Years Eve we went up in the Alps and watched the resort’s instructors skiing down the mountainside with torches. Not old fashioned ones, but electrical that changed colors and made the whole thing look magical. Just imagine about fifty lights turning and swirling on their way down the slope… Then we stayed and watched the fireworks. My dad had complained on the way up to the resort that we should have stayed at home as the sky was all grey, but we told him to wait and see, because we went way up over the clouds. It goes without saying that he was spellbound – both by the fantastic fireworks, but also by the nature itself…

    1. Oh, that sounds absolutely lovely ❤ There's something similar not far from where i live. They light up a whole park with fairy lights and differen colored lighting.

I haven't spent christmas with family since 2008, cuz i'm always worried of going back, and getting snowed in and not making back, haha 😀

  13. Ooh, I’ve never had Pimm’s before, but the apple and cinnamon part sounds delicious! 🙂 Hopefully your sniffles are gone by now and you’re having a good start to the new year. ❤

    1. Ah, it’s so yumm!
I think the cold weather defo doesn’t inspire me to go out, but then again, i’d prolly do the same given the choice, even in the summer.
