Atrocities Under the Blankie – The Naughty or Nice? #Tag

Naughty, or nice? This is the question. Jack tagged me, so let’s find it out!

Received an ARC and not reviewed it

Oh, for sure! Some of them were just truly terrible and I couldn’t even bear the thought of reading them, let alone come up with something coherent to say about them. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

As I confessed not so long ago, occasionally I go to great lengths to avoid the responsibility of reviewing books I was meant to read.

Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

Nah, not me! By some miracle I managed to score 73%. It took a lot of restraint though, because they always have something on offer I want to get my grubby hands on.

Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

I never promise, and never explain. You can’t fail a promise you didn’t make, can you?

Folded down the page of a book

Nope.

I do have some books with pages folded down though, because my friend loves doing this.

*shudders*

Accidentally spilled on a book

Good old Wes ❤

Sort of? I had a cat called Wesley who probably suffered from the cat version of ADHD and would pretty much fly around the room like Superman on cocaine. One time, he landed on my desk where I was colouring and somersaulted into my breakfast, kicking my coffee in my face and all over my book. It was fuckin’ spectacular.

DNF a book this year

Obviously. Don’t see how it’s naughty though?!

Bought a book because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

Well, I always tried to convince myself that eventually I will read them, but yes… yes, I also have never really believed that lie.

Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else

Nah. I’m always meant to be reading. It did happen that I was working whilst I was meant to be reading. In fact, it does happen quite regularly, and I find it quite inconvenient.

Skim read a book

You bet! It usually goes hand in hand with shameless DNF cases, but sometimes books I really enjoy have boring passages.

Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Nope! I never set unattainable goals. I have my boss for that.

Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library

Apparently I borrowed a book from the school library and never returned it. At least, I can’t see another explanation for owning a book with the school library’s stamp in it…

Broke a book buying ban

What ban?

Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Maybe? Fuck me, if I remember…

Wrote in a book you were reading

Nah. Books don’t have enough empty space to accommodate my sprawling thoughts and snarky remarks. I do love making notes on Kindle though.

Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

When I started reading books, Goodreads didn’t even exist, so it’s highly likely.

Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

Yes. She borrowed it from her library. Do I get double naughty points now?

Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

Hell, yes! I had a friend who would not only borrow a book and then sit on it for ages, but also passed it around to other people and eventually returned them, looking like a fuckin’ lettuce.

Broke the spine of someone else’s book

I’m not a monster.

Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ending up making it even more damaged

Ugh, no?!

Sat on a book accidentally

Well, no, but I did trip over some, not even once.

*Drumroll*

Naughty: 10 | Nice: 10

Aren’t I just a well balanced bookworm?

Considering that I’m pretty late to this party, Christmas time is pretty much upon us, and most of you have probably already done this, I won’t specifically nominate anyone this time, but if you feel like having a go at this, let me know!

  1. Glad to hear you are not a monster! I have this tag as a draft and when I was reading through it I was wondering what kind of experience the person who started it had for that to even be a question.

  2. He he, I sit in rage middle as well. 😊
I consider DNFing common sense though, why to suffer through a book that’s clearly not to be. He he, that’s what I tell myself anyway.. 😉😂

    1. Right?
Some books i know right away that i just won’t like. Others… it takes a bit of time to sink in that i won’t enjoy them, but it’s good riddance i say 😀

  3. I’ve done this tag too, it was a fun one! I love that look on his little face in the one pic and the love between you too. Oh maybe you’ve been naughty twice.. it was the library book from the friend that’s still on your shelf? She forgot she gave it to you and you obvs didn’t have to think to return it to the library.. Ain’t I a good little detective :-). Great tag Norrie, I never had any doubts you were a nice bookworm!

    1. Haha, yea, i was naughty twice 😀 The first book is from the library of my elementary school. Only discovered the book when i was much older and we moved house.
The second one, my friend borrowed a book from her local library, some 100 km away from London, then she insisted i read it. I totes forgot about that one too and then the friend resigned from our work and then we haven’t really spoken again and i got stuck with the book. 😀

  4. Hahaha. Poor Wesley. HAHAHA. I bet you had one heck of an adventurous time with him. 🙂 Skim reading goes hand in hand with the shameless DNF cases. OMG. I AM DYING! HAHAHA. About the book borrowing- Girl, I´m surprised you had your book returned at all! Good for you on that one. Although- after one look at the “lettuce” I´d have played ignorant and claimed it wasn´t my book. Lol. Great post! ❤

  5. “I never set unattainable goals. I have my boss for that.” MOOD hahahaha that made me laugh because it’s way too relatable haha 🙂 I’m the same way, I like to set attainable goals and… I just don’t like the pressure of challenges overall, so… 🙂
Wonderful answers for this tag! 😀

  6. I loved this! How do you keep that NetGalley score up? I am under 60% all the time – for the entire year I was under 50% so I see being over 50% as a huge improvement!

And, yes, that is double naughty for sure! Ha, ha!

    Happy Holidays!

  7. Ha! Ha! You’re def not a book monster, no breaking books or leaving them like lettuces. Dang but that did make me laugh. I had a friend do thatbto me once, never again. I banned him from ever borrowing a book again!

And I score nothing on Goodreads or Netgalley, I’m not on either.

    1. Wise decision! Book fiends need not apply 😀
Oh, you resisted netgalley? To be fair it seems like a wise decision. Went on it again today and my fingers were itching for some books but i convinced myself to calm down. Have like 300 books i already own but haven’t read 😀

      1. Oh yeah, and then some. I never lend anything to anyone any more. I’m too anal, especially about my book horde! 😉

Yeah, I tried Netgalley way back when and it didn’t take. I don’t read unfinished ebooks never mind they didn’t like my reviews. I think I got blacklisted! Ha! Ha! Besides, I have enough to read without having an iPad full of books.

  9. Hahaha dang, I always seem to be working when I should be reading too! & is that really someone you can call a friend when she sits on a book forever & returns it looking like lettuce?! Sounds like an enemy to me LOL.
