It’s the End of the Year #Tag

The end (of the year) is nigh, so it’s the perfect time to take account of what we accomplished (or not) so far.

Becca @Becca Leighanne tagged me, so let’s see what we’ve got here.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Oh dear. Not only from this year, but also from June 2017. That’s when I started reading Shift by Hugh Howey. I’m about halfway through, but it got kind of boring. I’m still planning to finish it, because the first book in the series was brilliant, and I think the third one will be just as good.jughead

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Can’t say I do. But I did save up The Girl In the Tower by Katherine Arden for December. It’s such a winter book!girlintower

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Nope, I’m all done for this year!

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Three?!
I actually promised myself that in December I will attempt reading some books I have for ages, and the three that have the best chance to fit my mood are The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood, In A Dark, Dark Wood and Elevation.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

Doubtful.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2019?

The plan is to have no plan. You can’t fail your goal if haven’t got any! Am I right?I will probably set an easily attainable goal on Goodreads, but I won’t do a reading challenge or anything of that sort. This year I tried the Popsugar Challenge, but I realized soon enough that half of the prompts don’t actually interest me. What could be fun, is to check the 2019 topics at the end of next year and see how many I accidentally completed.

How about you guys? Any plans?

  1. My main goal for next year is to spend less on books. Or at least read 10 physical books before I bring another into the house. I’m fully aware that I will only last until April with this one, but hey at least i’m attempting. Maybe.
I’m not doing any challenges either as I never keep up and i’m to much of a mood reader.

    1. Good plan!
Something i’ve been also contemplating. Although i try to buy all my books on sale, but i bought a few on impulse and haven’t felt like reading them for years 😀

  2. I set an easily attainable goodreads goal and that’s enough for me! Anything else makes me disappointed or just annoyed when the topics don’t work for me, like what you mentioned with the Popsugar one. Having no plan is the best way to go, I think 🙂

  3. My problem with reading challenges is that I forget all about them after the first couple of months. Oops. I might try using a spreadsheet next year to get more organized, because I do have a couple I try to do every year.

    1. Haha, i had a spreadsheet too. Now i just call it the Spreadsheet of Regrets. Some prompts were really cool, and probably more than 10 book would have fit it. Others? Not so much :/

  4. The Plan is to have no plan…My plan too. 🙂 🙂 And besides, I’ll be focusing on editing and finishing my novel next year that i won’t be able to read so much. Which is I think ok considering I already read 180+ books this year. My goal is 200 and I think i’ll surpass it. 🙂 it would be like i already read the books I should read next year. haha/

        1. Well, that’s one way, but i usually just make it with cold milk to begin with 😀 Sometimes i add some flavouring if i feel super fancy 😀

  5. I’m doing the Goodreads Challenge again since I’m on target to meet my goal for the year. I participate in a few challenges in my groups but I don’t look for titles to fit them…I read what I want and see if they fit the challenge. You’d be surprised at how much more fun they are!

  6. I love the idea of no big plans, Norrie! I’m reading The Bear and the Nightingale (I think that’s right?) and then hopefully the one you are reading, in prep for the newest one coming out. I can’t wait to read them all! Wintery sounds perfect now!

  7. Haha, the plan is to have no plan. I wish I could be like that, but unconsciously I’d end up making plans and goals anyway so I might as well succumb before 2019 starts. 😛 At least I succeeded to convince my brain to “let go” by now. I set some goals, but if I don’t reach them, I don’t and that’s that. I just hope I’m able to stick to that mindset throughout the entire year and not only right now.. :’)

    1. Well, that’s a sensible approach! Like, you love making plans and set goals, so you do it, but if for some reason you don’t meet them you are still ok 🙂 Fingers crossed!

  8. I’m glad to hear you don’t have specific plans either haha, I’m the same way, I like to set an easily attainable goal, in order not to feel too pressured and to have fun haha 🙂

    1. I got Elevation in hardcover and now i'm like, oh no, i can't be bothered with turning on the ligths, etc, so gonna read it when i'm off in December and got some daylight while home. hehe 😀

  9. No plans for 2019 either, but this tag reminded me that I have book started in January 2017 and soon it will be two years and I have yet to finish it – although I swear I will because it was fun, I just wasn’t in the mood for it.

  10. Gosh, I always proudly say what I want to read, get all excited about that… and usually don’t read that for months, years even.. which is rather embarrassing, especially as I am known to make ‘grand’ announcements… I blame my whimsical nature… 😉
Thanks for the tag Norrie, I’ll be happy to take part in this. As long as nobody takes my plans seriously he he… 🙂

  11. Nice! 🙂 Winging it more with your reading for the year sounds like a good plan. I’m not sure what my plans are going to be yet, but I do think I want to read a lot more non-fiction books in 2019.
Happy Reading to you in the new year! 😀
