Book Blogger Memory Challenge, Or The Tag In Which Norrie Forgot All The Books

I have a weird memory. I can recall entire conversations from months ago, remember what I watched on telly when I was a little kid, but ask me what I read six months ago and I’ll have some issues.

Bibi @Bibi’s Book Blog tagged me in this memory challenge, and I must say, the results are concerning.

How does this work?
You must answer these questions without looking anything up on the internet and without looking at your bookshelves!!

Dunn-dunn-dunn!

#1 Name a book written by an author called Michael
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Never read it though.

#2 Name a book with a dragon on the cover
A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin. I think?! I mean it must have a dragon!

#3 Name a book about a character called George
I have a feeling that there was a little kid called George in Stephen King’s It.
Was there? Someone please tell me.

#4 Name a book written by an author with the surname Smith
The Burning Shore by Wilbur Smith. Love his books. I rarely read historical fiction, but his Courtney books are just amazing. They are set in South Africa, and the family saga starts somewhere in the 17th century. The Burning Shore also has one of my favourite fictional character ever: Centaine Courtney, who is feisty and witty as fuck.

#5 Name a book set in Australia
This is almost too easy! Just read Force Of Nature by Jane Harper, set in the Australian bushland. Awesome book! If you haven’t read it, please do yourself a favoure and give it a try.

#6 Name a book with the name of a month in the title
Ha! Ok, well… No idea. The only one I could think of was The Hunt for the Red October, but that’s what Bibi said, so maybe I just saw it there and I thought I remembered it. So I’ll pass.

#7 Name a book with a knife on the cover
I’m fairly positive that my copy of The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness has a knife on it. I mean, it would make sense. No?

#8 Name a book with the word ‘one’ in the title
I think Nora Roberts has a book called Year One, or something like that. Haven’t read that one either.

#9 Name a book with a eponymous title
Ugh… Actually had to check what eponymous means.
I’ll go with Sadie. Another book I haven’t read, and also have no clue who wrote it. (Sorry, author!!)

#10 Name a book turned into a movie
Ready Player One. Awesome book, awesome movie. Don’t remember who wrote it. Some dude…

Ok, I’ll see myself out…

I’d love to see how Ova, Hunida, and Ayunda can remember stuff about books!

  1. haha I think I’d have gotten only one answer. At least I have read November 9 by Colleen Hoover. I have Googled eponymous but still don’t have the answer to the question lo. You did great, Norrie!

  3. Wow, you did so well! My memory is terrible. I would fail this one for sure. Most of my answers would be something along the lines of, “That thing with the thing—you know what I mean?” I’m impressed!

    1. Oh, i do that with people… i saw a guy in the office and asked my friend who the newbie was. Apparently the dude has been working there for 6 months. And our office is quite small…😂

  5. Haha, I love this! It’s strange how your mind goes blank when you’re put on the spot. Someone asked me today what books I have on my wishlist, and I couldn’t think of one – I have a million books on my wish list!!! And Year One by Nora Roberts happens to be on my wish list!

  6. Oh believe me, you did EXTREMELY well compared to how I would have done… My memory sucks so much I sometimes fear my brain cells must be dying (and not regenerating) a lot quicker than they are supposed to. I’m not sure if it’s my grey mass protecting me from going into overdrive or just my inability at surviving. Maybe both?

Anyway, great post Norrie! I had to think about that dragon one and I own the freaking book

  7. OK, this is a seriously cool tag and you had a proper good go at it. So impressed… I’d totally fail at all of those answers… I was trying to think a long but kept pulling a blank 😀 Think I’d end up proper annoyed with myself by the end for not remembering anything 😀
