I think it’s entirely possible that someone tagged me on this one at some point and I’d just forgotten about it. If that’s the case, I’m sorry, it must have slipped under the blankie and is now lost forever in the cookie crumbs. Next question is who ate cookies in the bed? It sure as hell wasn’t me. Anyway…
Drew said it’s up for grabs, so don’t mind if I do!
#1 You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?
Randomly?! As a mood reader would?
Like, what goes well with my current outfit? Am I up to handling multiple perspectives and a lot of back and forth, or do I need something simple?
Sometimes I just need something with beautiful writing, other times I want a hard boiled detective noir.
There are no rules!
#2 You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?
Oh boy, do I? If it’s an actual physical copy, then it just signed itself up for a free trip to the nearest charity shop; I don’t even want to keep it in the house.
If it’s an e-book I will simply remove it from my kindle and pretend we’ve never met.
#3 The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?
Oh, I don’t know. It never happened! I always set my targets really low. I’m not your typical ambitious reader, and don’t particularly like difficult or challenging things creeping into my personal chill time. I mean, I’m being challenged enough at work. At least that’s what my boss says. But he uses “challenging” and “annoying” interchangeably. So…
#4 The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?
Barely! Not matching covers are the reason my therapist is still getting to see me. We often discuss the horror of this and he usually says stuff like “It’s not really the cover that is bothering you, is it?”One of the reasons why I actually love my Kindle. Covers don’t matter there, because I don’t have to look at them.
#5 Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?
The cat is usually unimpressed with everything, so I’m pretty sure he would have hated that book too if he could read.
My bestie is also a great choice because she rarely reads, so if I told her the book was horrible she would be extremely sympathetic and offer to hate it by proxy.
#6 You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?
I don’t care, I just cry. Better question is, how does the public deal?
#7 The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?
Nah. I just jump into the sequel and hope for the best.
Kindle again comes super handy, because I can actually search in the previous book if I’m really drawing a blank. Most authors give enough details and hints though, so usually I have quite a good chance to figure out what’s going on.
#8 You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?
Well, it depends… Do they know I have it? Because if not, I just deny it! “Who? Me? No, I don’t have that one, who told you I do?” * deathglare *In all fairness, I don’t think I would mind lending books to my friends. Not that they ever dare ask…
#9 You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?
Pick up another five? What are the chances that I pick 10 books in a row that will utterly suck? I mean, where am I? The Library of Horrible & Atrocious Books?
A Netflix binge also helps.
#10 There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?
All of them!Ok, all of them that go on sale.
#11 After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?
Forver and ever, and then I will probably be buried with them.
I thought most of this stuff was just me…

Yeah, for the most part although I don’t tend to cry in public while reading a book. Unless of course the writing is awful lol

Hahaha 😀
I must say it hasn’t happened to me yet, to cry about a book. But i did cry in public, and some people looked really scared…

I think it’s because no one knows what to do, I mean us English are pretty detached from our emotions so to seem them people must be like… What do I do? Lol

Hahah I loved reading this! Your answers are great, I seriously burst out laughing when I read that your cat might sympathise an unpopular opinion. Then I was stared at for laughing in public while looking at my phone so I have discovered that the public doesn’t deal with stuff very well 😂 And choosing the next book to read is probably dark magic, sometimes when the planets align I can go to my bookshelf and feel which book I need in my life. Other times I have no idea what I’m doing and I keep picking up books that don’t fit my mood.

The public is the worst! 😀
I always kinda abandon series but they would be literally be the ultimate solution. Like, we could just pick up the next book and not think about other options, but unfortunately it just doesn’t work like that 😀

I enjoyed reading your answers, Norrie. I especially liked number 6 haha yeah, the public should learn t deal with emotional readers. This is a fun tag!

I almost always forget a lot of the previous book and am forever rereading books honestly. I should just start the sequels like you but I think I’d feel really lost haha. I also really need to get to the books on my shelf instead of buying new ones ah. Great post!

Only recently i started taking actual notes of the books i’m reading, so i hope that will help with remembering stuff better. 😀

Norrie, your tags are always amusing! I look forward to them! I pretend like I don’t have whatever book, too. Bookstagram is making that harder though. 😂

You can always send them to the library 😀

Loved reading this! Thanks for a.m. laugh out loud moments. FYI, I started keeping character lists on my serial books to help my recall when the next book is released. It includes a summary of major events.

ooo, smart move!
I only recently started taking proper notes and still don’t have the format i like. Deciding between google docs and actual notebooks, but i defo need to not the characters down better. Thanks for the tip! ❤ 🙂

I set up a private group on Goodreads to keep the info. That made it really easy. I set up a topic for each series with the books and their associated character lists within. I keep a “spoiler info” note for each book. This has become my lifeline.

Ah, I should know by now not to bring a coffee in to read blog posts, as invariably I end up snorting coffee everywhere, especially with your posts! Bad form. And you and I will both be buried with a mountain of unread bought books we just never got around too. 😉

Haha 😅. I’m imagining a mausoleum that looks like a little library and confuses people all the time.

Oh, now wouldn’t that be a great idea. They’d all think it was the library, but, surprise, dead people! Bwhahaha!

Ahah this is such a fun tag and I loved reading your answers! I admire how you can DNF and get rid of a book like that, I always tend to be a little… reluctant to do that, I’m not even sure why, hahaha 🙂 and the denying that you own a book in order not to have to give it to someone else is a GREAT strategy hahaha 🙂

I’m trying to remember how i turned into a dnf monster. When i was young, 15-16, i used to suffer through books, except the school mandated ones. Those i just couldn’t.
