Following in the footsteps of his first book in the Erika Foster series, The Girl in the Ice, Robert Bryndza delivers yet another fast paced, exciting thriller with a brilliant detective who doesn’t stop until the killer is caught, no matter what it cost her. Badass!

Series: Detective Erika Foster #2

In the dead of a swelteringly hot summer’s night, Detective Erika Foster is called to a murder scene. The victim, a doctor, is found suffocated in bed. His wrists are bound and his eyes bulging through a clear plastic bag tied tight over his head.
A few days later, another victim is found dead, in exactly the same circumstances. As Erika and her team start digging deeper, they discover a calculated serial killer – stalking their victims before choosing the right moment to strike.
The victims are all single men, with very private lives. Why are their pasts shrouded in secrecy? And what links them to the killer?
If the Night Stalker is watching, you’re already dead…
With The Night Stalker the author brings us an action packed page turner, and we are thrown into the thick of it right from the start as we catch a mysterious hooded figure in the act of breaking into the good doctor’s house and taking great pleasure in ending his life.
In this gruesome story the author chose to reveal the identity of the killer early on, creating great suspense with the constantly changing perspectives. As the body count increases, the motives slowly unfold and the stakes are getting higher. DCI Foster and her trusted team are working around the clock to solve the case, and as it often happens in stressful situations, relieve some of the tension with borderline inappropriate humour.
‘It’s very tidy, for a newly single man,’ said Erika. ‘Unless the attacker cleaned up,’ she added.
‘What? Had a vacuum round before he scarpered?’ asked Moss. ‘I wish he’d pay me a visit. You should see my place.’
We meet some great people on the way, some familiar from the previous case, others new, but well versed in murder and mayhem, and we get another glimpse into Erika’s painful past as she takes the first, wobbly steps on the road to recovery from the death of her husband two years ago.
Erika follows her instincts, and, against the multiple warnings from her superiors to stand down, finds herself in unexpected danger where her wits might not be enough to escape unscathed.
Impulsive she might be, Erika does get results. But when her career and a friend’s future are on the line, she has to make some hard choices and answers some difficult questions. Is she willing to sacrifice everything she worked for just so she can look herself in the eye and say that she did what was right?
Often you have to piss people off to get to the truth…
I say, you go, Foster!
P.S. Check out the Polish cover, looks awesome!
