February, also known as The Month of the Plague (stomach flue is not fun, guys) is now over, and I’d love to say so is winter, but considering that we just got buried in snow and there were only about three days this month when I didn’t freeze my ass off, I think it’s just wishful thinking.
So let’s see what happened in February on Reading Under the Blankie, shall we.
I’m having some seriously mixed feelings about the 8 books I’ve finished this month. There was one I absolutely loved, one I wanted to set fire to and watch it die a slow and painful death, one truly enjoyable but somewhat weird, and February marks the appearance of the first abandoned (a.k.a. DNF) book of the year, followed by another one in quick succession. Exciting times!
In case you missed these, or haven’t felt like reading them at the time, but now you are dying to know what I thought, here’s a collection of my reviews from the past month.
The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Silent Victim by Caroline Mitchell
The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
I Know Where You Live by Pat Young
I received The Sky Is Yours in January for a review, and made a heroic attempt to get through it, but after a month and a half had to admit defeat. Tips for Living was my monthly freebie from Kindle but turned out to be a waste of my time.
I’m not in the habit of reading more than one book at the same time, but I have a massive physical copy of The Cuckoo’s calling, so I decided I start The Hunger e-book while I’m out and about.
I have given the reading challenge a bit of a rest this month and only made a list for one prompt. There are so many great books coming out this year, so I didn’t want to commit to anything else just yet. #commitmentissues

If only I’d read the books at the same rate I’m buying them! Check out what I accumulated this month.

Lists! I have some delicious treats for list lovers, so keep your eyes peeled, they are coming soon!
Reviews. I’m planning to review all the books I’ve read so far. Even the bad ones.
Figure out how Twitter works. I only joined recently, and let me tell you, I have no clue what’s going on.
Tags & awards. I was tagged in and nominated for quite a few things and I haven’t gotten around to actually do anything about them. I’m really not that creative when it comes to tags and stuff like that, so we’ll see how it goes. In any case a big shout out to the amazing people who thought about me: Rachel @Musings of a Coffee Addicted Bibliophile, Kat @Art of Feels, Kelly @Another Book in the Wall, Holly @Nut Free Nerd, Jessica @The Awkward Book Blogger, Kay Wisteria@Hammock of Books, Ivy @Ivy’s Library Card, Malanie @Malanie Loves Fiction, Noriko @Diary of a Bookfiend, Satou @Inkish Kingdoms
Goodreads Reading Goals. In the beginning of January I set myself a goal to read 65 books this year. After seeing my progress until now, I have upped this to 75. #ambitious
I look forward to seeing what you guys are up to!
Awww, I really wanna read Turtles All the Way Down and the Couple Next Door! You did an amazing month, hope your March will be as productive as February!

Thank you 🙂
Turtles was really fun, and it’s quite short.
Couple next door wasn’t too bad either!

The Hunger book looks like something I would enjoy (mental note to myself: stop buying more books!!!)
Oh, I am a fellow Black Mirror fan. Such a wonderfully dark and twisted series. After reading your list, I will definitely check out Fluence (reminding myself of that mental note…! :-))
What did you think of the Circle? I watched the movie (free on netflix) and liked the concept but found the movie quite boring. I’m sure the book is much better…

Circle was really good as book. The movie didn’t really capture it… 🤔
I’m at 35% in the Hunger and it’s really good and creepy

Creepy sounds great. I’m adding the Hunger on my TBR list. 🙂

Ah, I still need to read Turtles. I’m a huge John Green fan, but I’m not in a contemporary mood at the moment, but, hopefully, I’ll read it sometime this year! I read The Couple Next Door when it came out and absolutely hated it. 😂 I’m hoping A Stranger In The House is better!

Excellent round-up! Made me remember that I still have to finish Black Mirror 🙂 I think some of those episodes are so intense that I need a break and then it slips my mind… Anyway, looking forward to your stuff in March and let me know if you figure out Twitter!

Wow ! good job, looks like february was a good month for your reading 🙂
Is turtle all the way down worth the read ? idk .. I always pick it up on my trips at the bookstore but end up putting it back down xD as I don’t really get what the plot is, for some reason .. 0.0

I think turtles in entertaining if you enjoy books that focus on the characters a lot. The plot really isn’t that important. Rather absurd if i may say so. The portrayal of anxiety is very relatable. It’s pretty short as well, so you won’t be stuck on it for ages 😀

Wow, that’s a great number of books you’ve read in February! I’ve been thinking about reading the Couple Next Door for some time. The Hunger looks intriguing, enjoy!

Just finished The Hunger today… huhh… it was pretty intense 😀
The couple next door was a quick and fun read. If you are in a mood for easy entertainment, and not something serious stuff, i can just recommend it 🙂

I feel your pain about the return to snow after a few nice days. In standard Michigan weather we had an absolutely lovely day on Wednesday and then got hit with a damn blizzard on Thursday. lol But it got me a nice 3 day weekend from work, so I can’t complain too much. 😛
Good luck with your recently-upped reading goal for the year. I’m sure you’ll slay all the books! 😀 Enjoy the rest of your weekend! ❤

Sniggers, how to use Twittah. It’s rocket science with some nuclear fission thrown in too!😂😂😂
It’s great for banter and for using it, add hashtags to your tweets #bookblogger #blogger #bookbloggers #bookreview and stuff like that.👌📚
