Monthly Catch Up #1 – January 2018

It feels like I just swallowed the last sip of my New Year’s Eve whiskey and all of a sudden it’s February. Not sure what happened. A rift in the time-space continuum?January was a good month, reading wise. Since it’s still bloody cold outside, I barely left the house and spent most of my time reading under my ever growing pile of blankies. My coffee, tea and biscuit consumption reached critical levels, and there was precedent of me wearing two cardigans at once. #noregrets

So let’s see what happened in January on Reading Under the Blankie, shall we.

I’ve finished nine books this month. Wow. Someone’s dedicated… The best of all? I only hated one of them!

Where the Memories Lie by Sibel Hodge
The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
Beartown by Fredrik Backman
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Loving one, can’t stand the other. But which one’s which?I’m only participating in one reading challenge, because it’s more than enough to manage, and I didn’t want to get stressed out about reading. That is what work is for. I finished quite a few prompts this month, and picked a few books for some others. Check out these posts for some inspiration.

Reading Challenge Prompt: A book about or involving a sport #19
Reading Challenge Prompt: A book with an ugly cover #38
Reading Challenge Prompt: A book about time travel #23
Reading Prompt: A book that involves a bookstore or library #39
Reading Prompt: A book from a celebrity book club #32
Reading Prompt: A book with song lyrics in the title #28
If you love lists, like me, take a look at my January lists. You might just find your next read!
6 books to read before they become TV series
Ran out of Stephen King reading material? These might just be the books for you

Well, February. Obviously. Yeah, I know, I’m a wiseass.
More lists. Because I love them so.
Reviews, of course. I haven’t gotten around to review some of the books I finished this month, so I’ll be posting them in the next couple of weeks.
Book haul posts. Maybe? I never thought anyone would be interested looking at piles of books I accumulated, but I found myself enjoying these kind of posts on other blogs, so I might give it a a go. What do you think? Yey or ney?
Blog award. I was nominated today and I’ll get around to post it next week. I hope. Because it’s seriously cool and I’m honored.
Reading. Need I say more? I’m not setting any goals, or deciding on books to read straight away though. I honestly never know what will tickle my fancy, so I’m kind of just going with the flow. Right now I can’t think of any book I will definitely want to read right away, so I will just go through my Goodreads lists and see what catches my eye.

I look forward to seeing what you guys are up to!

  1. I actually feel like January lasted forever! Maybe because I was more excited for my content in the next few months, so I was just biding my time. 😂

I don’t know which book you hated, but I loved Eleanor & Park and The Butterfly Garden! I’m hoping to read The Chalk Man and The Wife Between Us this year, and I’ve heard mostly good things about both, so I can’t wait!

I’m hoping to pot way more list posts in the upcoming months, so I feel that! 😄

  2. Oh, I hope it’s not the John Green book you aren’t liking. I’ve just picked that one up at the library today! You got some great reads in this month, many already on my TBR.

I’m a list girl myself. Bring on the lists!

  3. Yes, I don’t believe it is February. I think I’m in denial. I keep seeing Chalk Man on other people’s blogs and it’s calling me very loudly.

    1. Thanks for the feedback 😀
Turtles was different from what i expected but in a good way. It’s also pretty short, so didn’t take long at all.

  4. Seriously, January really did fly by in the blink of an eye. It’s crazy!
At least you got plenty of cozy winter reading done in that blur of a month. 🙂
And I vote Yay to book haul posts! 😀 I just did one myself (for comics), and I always think it’s interesting seeing what books others have gotten and how excited they are to read them. 🙂
